Triptychs

The triptych is probably the most traditional Western form of iconography for private devotions aside from illumination in psalters and other illuminated texts.

 

All of these things, however, were typically only obtained by the most well-off in Western European society. Please contact me if you have clear evidence of what was traditionally used for private devotion by those lower in society..
